Trajectory Study Privacy Policy
1. Overview
Trajectory Study is a private driving log that lets users manage their own drive records. Drive data is stored locally on the device. Trajectory Study does not upload or store Drive history on developer-controlled servers.
Trajectory Study has no account system, advertising, analytics, tracking, or third-party SDKs.
2. Data handled on the device
The app handles the following data on the device to record and display Drives:
- GPS location
- Timestamps, speed, course, and altitude
- Horizontal and vertical accuracy
- Drive and Segment information
- Events, their location and time, and Event Notes
- Barometric altitude and pressure-related data
- Photo references and previews used by the app
Handling this data on the device is not the same as collection by the developer. The current app does not transmit this data to a server where it is accessible to the developer or a third party.
3. Location
Location is used to record the route while a user-initiated Drive is actively recording. Recording can continue while the app is in the background during an active Drive.
The app does not request Always authorization. Live location stops when a Drive is paused. The app does not use significant-location changes, geofencing, or continuous location monitoring outside an active recording.
4. Camera and Photos
Photos can be added to an Event using the camera or Apple’s PhotosPicker. The app does not request read access to the entire photo library.
Photos taken with the camera are saved to the Photos Library. The app retains a Photos asset identifier and a preview used for display. It does not extract EXIF location from photos.
If a selected photo is stored in iCloud Photos, it may be retrieved through Apple’s Photos system framework. This communication is provided by Apple’s services.
5. MapKit and Apple system services
The app uses Apple MapKit to display maps. It does not use geocoding, place search, or directions. Apple system services such as MapKit and Photos may communicate with Apple services while providing their functionality.
6. Native Backup / Restore
A user can explicitly start a Native Backup and choose where to save
the .kbdarchive file using the system Document Picker.
Available destinations may include Files, iCloud Drive, or an
installed file provider. Data stored with a selected service is
subject to that service’s terms and privacy policy.
A backup archive is not encrypted or password-protected. Users are responsible for managing where it is stored and with whom it is shared. The developer does not have automatic access to a backup.
7. Deletion
Moving a Drive to Trash retains its data so it can be restored. Permanent Delete removes the Drive directory held by the app, including its Segments, Events, Event Notes, raw location data, and barometric data.
Permanent Delete does not delete original photos in the Photos Library or backup files that the user has already exported. Original photos and exported backups may remain after the app is uninstalled.
